I’ve seen beautiful ones while shopping, but store-bought tulle skirts are a little expensive. That’s why I decided to make it from scratch and customize its length as well as layers in my own way.

Let’s spend this craft afternoon together making a few pretty tulle circle skirts.

DIY Full Tulle Circle Skirt

Initially, I was planning to make a petticoat out of fabric straps but then I realized making a full circle skirt could be more practical to be worn anywhere outside. Tulle is one such fabric that brings a soft and romantic appearance for any occasion.

Materials Required:

  • The elastic band of at least 1.5-inch for a wide waistband
  • Lining fabric
  • Tulle fabric, depending on how many layers you want
  • Sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • Pins and fabric marker
  • Paper

Instructions:

  1. For my skirt, I purchased a piece of wide elastic, 1.5 yards of lining fabric, and 4 yards of tulle fabric.
  2. Take a packaging paper with a right-angle edge. Ensure to measure it around your hips as the hole needs to fit snugly.
  3. Make a larger quarter circle. The length should depend on your desired skirt length. I wanted a full-length skirt so I simply made sure to cut my fabric bigger than a pattern. Cut both curved lines that you drew.
  4. Fold the liner material from left to right. Then, you will have a material that is one-quarter the size of the original material. Now place the pattern over the folded fabric and cut it carefully.
  5. Organize your tulle fabric and pin together your layers to achieve a voluminous skirt.
  6. After pinning all the layers together, sew along the inner circle to put them in place, leaving a centimeter of the seam allowance. Use safety pins to attach and then remove open-ended pins.
  7. Once you get the desired skirt, use a zig-zag stitch or finish it with a raw edge. Stitch an elastic waistband so it fits comfortably. Use fabric chalk or marker to mark the necessary measurements.
  8. You can embellish it with some beads or anything you’d like. I just kept it plain and simple.
  9. Red Tulle Lined Circle Skirt

Making a circle skirt with an adorable zipper and linen cloth could be a brilliant idea to showcase your creativity on any occasion. Just find a style that suits your figure and create a waistband that fits comfortably.

Supplies Needed:

  • Tulle fabric
  • Stretchy elastic
  • Cotton fabric
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine

Instructions:

  1. Measure circle skirt around your waist and divide it equally. Cut the corner along the line.
  2. For the semi-circle edge, measure the length from one side to another and cut along that line.
  3. Place the paper pattern and pin it so it doesn’t slide away.
  4. When you’re done, remove the pins and unfold the skirt.
  5. Now cut your tulle into four pieces in about 10 inches and 2 yards. Pile two pieces of tulle on top of each other and use a stitching machine to sew them together.
  6. Sew the ends of elastic to create a full skirt liner. Next, fold the ends and sew them down for a perfect finish.
  7. Flip the fabric over and sew it along the edge to keep it neat. Now remove the pins and your very own circle skirt is ready.
